The workshop on Vedic Mathematics was organized by Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School under the able guidance of Ms. Saloni Mehrotra, Principal of P. S. Saholwa, Karchana Prayagraj. The resource person has received the CM award in 2016 for innovative ideas in teaching. All the mathematics teachers of the school attended the workshop and gained knowledge of teaching Mathematics in an interesting way.
Ms. Saloni Mehrotra started the session with the introduction of Vedic Mathematics. She said that it has Techniques/Sutras to solve mathematical arithmetic in an easy and faster way. It consists of 16 Sutras (Formulae) and 13 sub-sutras (Sub Formulae) which can be used for problems involved in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, conics. Then she explained Urdhva Tiryagbhyam – (Vertically and Crosswise) for the multiplication, Ekadhikena Purvena technique to find the square of numbers and various other techniques.
Using Vedic Mathematics’ general and specific techniques numerical calculations can be done very fast. The vision behind organizing the workshop was to lay a strong foundation for basic mathematics and to get rid of math phobia from students minds.
Mrs. Sushmita Kanungo, Principal JTGJS, addressed the gathering and motivated the teachers.
