Puppet show, an ancient form of theatre which includes amazing hand puppets, stimulates imagination and encourages creative play took place in the Rabindralaya of J.T.Golden Jubilee School. This programme organized by Uttar Pradesh Folk and Tribal Culture Institute jointly in association with J.T.Golden Jubilee School and Roop Katha, Prayagraj will be a four day programme.
Taking a day off from the monotonous classes, the students of J.T.Golden Jubilee School witnessed this grand Puppet show on 2nd December, 2023. The students were amazed to see the story named ‘SITA’, from the epic Sanskrit tale – Ramayana which was directed by Padmashree Suresh Dutta, a dedicated puppeteer and founder of Calcutta Puppet Theatre. Another show – AAKHRI SALAAM, under the direction of Captain Singh Karnadhaar, which plots around the struggle of Independence was showcased along with ALADIN by Pradeepnath Tripathi.
The movement of the puppets, voice modulation, hand gestures, costume, music, vocal inflection and effective use of creative puppets kept the audience engrossed. The students and staff were enthralled to see the characters come alive. The show will further enhance our students to learn to make use of puppets for possibilities of creativity and critical thinking in the field of studies.
This spectacular show was organized by Dr. Asim Mukherjee who was the organizing secretary. In the upcoming days, Professor Seema Singh, Chancellor Uttar Pradesh Rajshree Tandon Open University, Prayagraj will be seen as the Chief Guest for the occasion, along with Shri Harsh Vardhan Bajpai and Shri Rajendra Mishra as the Guest of Honour.
